Amanda has worked with children aged 6 months to 13 years in various capacities. She has been a primary school special education teacher, a pre-school teacher, a coordinator of after school care and a contract worker for the Department of Community Services. Amanda has also been involved in research work in the field of special education. More recently, she has had a number of articles published in Explore, a Pearson Education children's magazine. Currently she educates undergraduate teachers about inclusive practice, and spends the rest of her hours developing the Learn to be Buddies Series.
Amanda spent most of her childhood in Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia) enjoying all the benefits of a simple, active and creative life. You can see a little of what it was like here.
Amanda returned to NSW, Australia, as a teen. She trained in the fields of Early Childhood and Special Education. Through the years she has developed a strong interest in the social and emotional development of children. Her recognition of the important role teachers and families play in this development has strengthened her desired to develop resources that can be used in homes and schools. This lead to the birth of the Learn to be Buddies series.
