Our Birthday Party

It was a lovely day - the weather was overcast, a bit steamy.  Just right for a picnic and craft day by the lake.

In the photo slide show above you can see my most avid fan clutching his own copy of Dave is Brave.  It was lovely to meet him and see just how much he loves the book. - as you can see by the series of photos where he is reading along to the book read aloud DVD.  My favourite memory of the day is this boy endearingly greeting me as Dave is Brave (Laura capture this moment in a lovely photo).

You can also see some photos of children involved in our "Make and Do" activities.  The painting, drawing on balloons and the playdough proved to be the most popular activities.  Though there were some very creative versions of party hats, cars, people and stop hands.  And, of course, the pinata was a hit (pardon the pun) - though it very stubbornly refused to give up its lollies until we pummelled it to the ground.

Another thing that I greatly enjoyed about the day was talking to parents.  It was great to hear how important many of them felt Dave is Brave is, especially as it is tackling the difficult issue of bullying.  Several mums were keen to take information back to their schools and pre-schools.  There were even suggestions that I come and set up a stall at their school fetes.

There is also a photo in the slide show of our screening of the Why Don't You Share? DVD. The feedback on that was mainly about how expressive the pictures are.  Well done, Daniel.

While I was thoroughly exhausted by the day, I can't wait to do it all again!  It reminded me just how much I enjoy connecting with littlies and their parents.

My next opportunity will be when I visit Medowie Playtime for a craft and story-time morning.  If you want me to visit your school, centre, pre-school, playgroup, please contact me
